The United States says it has launched a new wave of strikes against Iran after Iran attacked a vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) states that the waterway has been closed until further notice.
According to state media, the vessel was attacked because it turned off its systems and diverted from the approved route.
US Central Command (Centcom) stated that it carried out its "third round of strikes this week" after the IRGC "blatantly attacked" a Cyprus-flagged vessel.
Following incidents earlier this week where three commercial tankers were attacked, the mutual exchange of strikes between the US and Iran has escalated in this manner.
