The government has announced the guaranteed purchasing prices for paddy for the 2026 ‘Yala’ cultivation season.
The Minister of Trade, Wasantha Samarasinghe said Nadu paddy will be purchased at Rs. 120 per kilogram, Samba at Rs. 130 per kilogram and Keeri Samba at Rs. 140 per kilogram.
The Minister also stated that a programme has been launched to expedite the release of existing rice stocks to the market to ensure consumers have timely access to rice.
