Mayor of Negombo Municipal Council resigns

Mayor of the Negombo Municipal Council, Robert Heenkenda, who represents the National People's Power (NPP), has reportedly resigned from his position.

It is reported that he has decided to step down from the post due to personal reasons.

Although Robert Heenkenda had previously announced on several occasions that he would resign as Mayor, reports indicated that he had later reversed that decision.

However, Ada Derana learns that Robert Heenkenda had officially tendered his resignation from the position today (15).
